“This is music that looks inward but often billows outward, its delicate moving parts making for something wonderfully expansive. A powerful and cohesive album.”
“What sets these recordings apart is the sheer attention to musical detail; carefully considered instrumental parts find their place within finely woven and wholly naturalistic arrangements.”
Album release — 22nd May 2026
Double Gatefold vinyl + digital
Everything is the new album from Oxford based band MARYSGARDEN, due for release on 22nd May 2026. MARYSGARDEN are celebrating twenty years in the business having been formed in 2005 by Oxford singer Laima Bite. Laima the sole original member of the band appears with their current line-up of Andrew Brown (bass), John Bosley (guitars), Darren Hasson-Davis (drums), Pete Lock (backing vocals) and Robin Morris (keys).
An album of epic proportions, opening track MARYSGARDEN is a suitably sky-scraping melodic tour de force, evoking The Cranberries in Laima’s swooning vocal melodies and the opening church bells and thunderstorm being a nod to Black Sabbath. Holes In opens with a bang and journeys through a weave of powerful vocal melodies, swashes of tribal drumming and horizon spanning guitar. Tracks such as Freefall and Mind Control are somewhere between the tight guitar hooks of bands such as Interpol and the grit of Hawkwind. Gasoline is a barnstorming, rock and roll belter that is as cathartic as it is euphoric with the hard rocking vitriol of stars such as The Horrors. Black Death Sister, and Original Sin further push into the zone of melodic post-grunge White Lies meets Wolf Alice territory, while Staircase Man slows the tempo and brings in Laima’s acoustic guitar playing but loses nothing of the emotional intensity, evoking the spirit of anthems such as Nobody Loved You by Manic Street Preachers. Machine is a strident protest song built around drummer Darren’s marching snare patterns and Laima’s haunting melodies. Prophecy tackles the ancient notion of the struggle of good and evil through a choral and prog style, and the album closes with Sweet Disorder, a surreal, nightmarish end to an album that is a defining document of one of the great Oxford bands of the last twenty years and with the release of Everything it seems clear that MARYSGARDEN will make waves far beyond their home town.
MARYSGARDEN have wowed audiences at major venues and festivals across Oxfordshire and been supported by local press outlets Nightshift Magazine and OMS and are hotly tipped by the local BBC Ox and Berks introducing show. Everything was performed by MARYSGARDEN, recorded at Master Rhythm Studios & Evolution Studios. Mixed by Nick Moorbath at Evolution Studios and mastered by Tim Turan at Turan Audio.
